The effect of the partial substitution of Mn with Fe in the layered perovskites (x 0.2) La 1.4 Ca 1.6 Mn 2± ±x Fe x O 7 has been studied. The results show that conduction and ferromagnetism have been consistently suppressed by Fe doping. The colossal magnetoresistance is enhanced by Fe doping in som
