โฆ Synopsis
Magneto-photoluminescence spectra of excitons in (GaP)n/(AIP)n short period superlattices (n = 3-9 is the number of monolayers) in high magnetic fields up to 40 T are studied. It was found that the luminescence intensity of the excitons showed a remarkable decrease when a field was applied perpendicular to the superlattices layers, whilst the intensity increased slightly for a field parallel to the layers. Application of a high hydrostatic pressure up to 10 kbar caused a red shift of AE/AP = -2.0 meV/kbar, but the effect of the high pressure on the above feature of the magnetic field dependence was negligibly small. These results were interpreted in terms of the crossover of closely located different conduction bands.
