✦ Synopsis

Magnetic sensors and the possibifity of a magnetic microactuator using the properties of magnetic thin films are discussed. Device applications employing the magnetoresistive and magnetostrictire effects' of magnetic thin films are delineated. The needs and opportunities of these devices are addressed to stimulate future research interest. Emphasis is placed on the diverse device applications using the magnetic properties of thin permalloy films.
