A statistical model employing a mean-5eld approach is proposed to calculate the magnetic susceptibility of glasses containing paramagnetic transition metal cations. The model has been veri5ed with experimental data taken on a series of glasses containing manganese(II), d 5 , S ‫؍‬ 5/2.
