✦ Synopsis

New PTFE grade is aimed at extreme environments

Q uadrant Engineering Plastic

Products (Quadrant EPP) has introduced Fluorosint HPV a high performance PTFE intended for applications such as seals and bearings that demand high wear resistance and low friction.

This new material is suitable for use in the temperature range -240 to +260ΒΊC. It is expected to be used n applications where the mating surface may be 316 stainless steels, aluminium, mild steel, brass and other plastics. It is available in the form of rod, tube and sheet, and can also be supplied in near net-shape form. The material is the result of a proprietary process and composition intended to provide an excellent combination of low frictional properties and high dimensional stability. Parts can be used with or without external lubrication, allowing them to wear evenly without any erratic motion in low speed start-stop applications that require zero stick-slip. It is particularly suitable for dynamic seals and bearings, and is ideal for non-lubricated, high bearing load components intended for use in extreme environments where metals fail due to erosion and corrosion. The material is also FDA compliant.
