✦ Synopsis

Multicomponent vanadates Co 3 þ x Fe 4 À x V 6 O 24 have been synthesized using the solid state reaction method from Co 3 V 2 O 8 and FeVO 4 .oxides. The electron paramagnetic resonance/ferromagnetic resonance (EPR/FMR) spectra of 20 samples containing solid state phases formed in the FeVO 4 -Co 3 V 2 O 8 system have been recorded at room temperature. The howardevansite structure (H-type phase) is produced, which corresponds to the Co 2.616 Fe 4.256 V 6 O 24 formula while a homogeneity range of lyonsite (L-type phase) type structure could be described by the Co 3 þ 1.5x Fe 4 À x V 6 O 24 formula (0.476o x o 1.667). Considering the values of g-factor and linewidth of each registered spectrum the existence of three types of magnetic centers was inferred and correlated with phases detected by XRD method.

The linear and nonlinear magnetic responses of the molecularbased magnet Co 3 BTCA 2 (H 2 O) 4 have been studied as a function of frequency and temperature. The out-of-phase component of the linear susceptibility and the nonlinear susceptibilities all show maxima at the critical temperature of 23 K
