Abstract
We studied the highly symmetric magnetic components of a metamaterial with negative permeability in the microwaveβfrequency region. Their characteristics are investigated by using numerical simulation and experiment, and a reasonable agreement between the measurements and the numerical simulations was achieved. The simple and highly symmetric structure of the metamaterial not only significantly relaxes the designing condition for the realization of the negativeβindex property but also opens up a great possibility for application.
