β¦ Synopsis
The dc-susceptibility and specific heat of the intermetallic compound Ce,, La,, ,Pd,Si, have been measured. Above T = 100 K local-moment behaviour is observed with an effective Ce moment of 2.55~~ and a Curie-Weiss temperature of -49 K. An antiferromagnetic phase transition occurs at 4 K. Comparison of the specific heat data for Ce, ,La, ,Pd,Si, and CePd,Si, shows that the large spin fluctuations present in the latter compound. are strongly suppressed upon dilution.

The nonstoichiometric rare-earth tin antimonides RESn x Sb 2 (RE=La, Ce, Pr, Nd, Sm) were characterized by 119 Sn Mo¨ssbauer spectroscopy and their transport and magnetic properties were measured. The presence of nearly zero-valent Sn is suggested by the similarity of the 119 Sn Mo¨ssbauer parameter
Magnetic properties of LnTi 0.5 V 0.5 O 3 (Ln β«Ψβ¬ Ce and Pr), which are solid solutions between the perovskites LnTiO 3 and LnVO 3 , have been investigated. Their crystal structures are an orthorhombic perovskite type (Pnma), where the Ti and V ions are settled with random occupation at the same cry
