Transmission electron microscopy was used to establish densification, alignment, and magnetization reversal mechanisms in hot-pressed and die-upset NdFeB magnets. Microstructures of these materials reveal two principal phases: Nd 2 Fe l4 B grains and a grain boundary phase of approximate composition
) lOo-xLax alloys, with x up to 0.9, were synthesized and examined by powder X-ray diffraction and magnetic measurements. Lattice parameters, Curie temperature, T c, coercivity, iHo, and saturation magnetization, M s, were determined. Phase analysis revealed that AlaLaMn 4 precipitates were produced
