✦ Synopsis


Measurements of electrical resistivity and specific heat have been performed on the tetragonal ternary compound PrCu 2 Ge 2 . The resistivity shows a inflection and a sharp drop with a hysteresis around 14 and 4 K where the specific heat also shows a l-type anomaly and a jump, respectively, which are associated with magnetic transitions. From the low temperature specific heat, the electronic specific heat coefficient g ΒΌ 13 mJ=mol K 2 and the hyperfine field H h ΒΌ 3000 kOe are estimated. The magnetic entropy indicates the existence of a doublet ground level and a doublet first excited level.
