โฆ Synopsis
Magnetic loss in remanent state ferrite2 has generally been described through the arti$ce of a magnetic loss tangent (tan 6, = t~"/$).
This characterization k not directly relatable to intrinsic material parameters. The resulta presented in this paper indicate that magnetic loss in the remanent state can be related to intrinsic material parameters by c&cribing the ferrite muthematically by a complex "average" permeability tensor.
The "average" permeability includes the effects of magnetocrystalline anistropy, remanent magnetization, linewidth and an average demagnetizingfield appropriate to the distribution of magnetic domains. Experimental examples are given showing that excellent agreement is obtained between theoretically predicted and measured losses.
* The term "ferrite" is used to imply either & ferrimagnetic spine1 or garnet.
