✦ Synopsis

Pulsed, extremely-low-frequency electromagnetic fields caused a significant increase in abnormalities in the developing chick embryo. The effect was observed when the field was presented during the first 24 h of incubation; no significant effect was observed with exposure from 24 to 48 h of incubation.

Effects of alternating magnetic fields (MFs) on the embryonic and fetal development in CBA/Ca mice were studied. Mated females were exposed continuously to a sinusoidal 50 Hz (13 microT or 0.13 mT root mean square) or a sawtooth 20 kHz (15 microT peak-to-peak) MF from day 0 to day 18 of pregnancy fo
