✦ Synopsis
The linear HBF+ ion has been detected for the first time in a dc discharge plasma of a BFs/H, mixture by infrared diode laser spectroscopy with magnetic field modulation. The us band origin and rotational constants of H"BF+ were determined to be Y,, = 1633.2241(12), B" = 1.211623(42) and B' = 1.203006( ), in cm-' units with three standard deviations in parentheses.

The vY + V~ -'I~ sequence band of the linear C, radical in the gas phase has been studied using a tunable diode laser spectrometer. A flowing mixture of acetylene and helium was used to generate the C, radicals. Seventy-three rovibrational transitions were measured in the 1530 to 1562 cm-' spectral
The infrared diode laser spectrum of the n 2 / n 5 0 n 2 hot band of acetylene has been observed within the discharge plasma of acetylene diluted in He. The concentration of acetylene in the n 2 state was modulated by applying a few kHz of ac current, and the spectrum of the hot band was recorded se
