โฆ Synopsis
We report here on the observation of (1) heavy fermion behavior; (2) antiferromagnetism; and (3) magnetic-field-induced superconductivity in the simple cubic Cu3Au structure compound, CePb 3. The effects of diluting Ce with La and of moving slightly off stoichiometry, i.e. forming samples of CePb~ with x near but not equal to 3, are discussed. The phenomenon of magnetic-field-induced superconductivity is extremely sensitive to these perturbations and has only been observed for pure CePb 3 .
