โฆ Synopsis
The theory of magnetic field effects (MFEs) on geminate recombination of highly anisotropic radicals is developed taking into account the anisotropy of reactivity, exchange and electrostatic interactions. Simple analytical expressions for the optically detected MFE amplitude Ps and the CIDEP P, are obtained. It is shown that Ps-o w2 and P.-o for w > 7, ' , where w is the intraradical interaction (hti, etc.) and 7R is the diffusional time of closest approach. In the opposite limit w < 7, ' , P,,,-w I", as for isotropic radicals. Ps and P. strongly depend on the anisotropy of reactivity and the exchange interaction, respectively. Both Ps and P. depend on the anisotropy of the attractive electrostatic interaction and the initial relative orientation.
