✦ Synopsis

The magnetic susceptibility × of La 2 xSrxCu04 was measured in the range x=O.06 to 0.3. The Tdependent part xs(T) of X below x~O.18 ~onsists of a term X~(T) arising from antiferromagnetically correlated Cu-spins, while xS(T) above x=O.18 consists of x~(T) and a Curie term which is small but grows with increasing x. The superconducting transition temperature decreases rapidly with increasing x above x=-O,18 where the Curie term appears.
