โฆ Synopsis
Magnetic circular dichroism (MCD) in the YBa2CuaOv_x c-oriented epitaxial optically transparent films has been investigated. For superconducting (sc) and non-sc samples the MCD dependence on magnetic field is described well by the linear law up to 7 T. The dispersion of MCD is different in sc and non-sc films. The paramagnetic behavior of the temperature dependence of amplitude is peculiar to most of the MCD bands. and widely discussed in literature. They consider that: the absorbtion peak near 1.7 eV may be attributed to the charge transfer transitions between 3d states of copper and 2p states of oxygen in the CuO planes; the 2-3 eV spectral region originates from the transitions between Cu(2), 0(2) and 0(3) ions in the planes and between Cu(1), O(1) and 0(4) ions in the chains; and the characteristic of the YBaCuO compound peak at 4.1 eV m assigned to the intraionic excitations of the chain Cu(1) atoms [4]. As for the spectral magneto-optical studies, we know of only one paper which has appeared to date [5]
