β¦ Synopsis
Magnetic susceptibility of diluted solid solutions of manganese containing complex oxides with perovskite and pyrochlore structure was studied. Manganese behavior in a complex oxide was shown to depend on the type of the structure and on the nature of diamagnetic atoms comprised in the complex oxide. Magnetic dilution of "colossal magnetoresistor" La 0.67 Ca 0.33 MnO 3 gives drastically different results compared to other complex oxides. Superexchange interactions in small clusters of manganese atoms in this oxide appear to be characterized by a temperature dependent exchange parameter, which correlates with a low temperature phase transition.
