โฆ Synopsis
The development achieved with superconducting oxides makes possible the design of magnetic bearings in association with permanent magnets. The inherent properties of these superconductors ensure passive stability in opposition to classical systems which need at least one actively controlled direction. This paper reports some results about levitation performances between permanent magnets and YBaCuO samples at 77 K. The force-displacement measurements are corroborated by magnetization curves. Several structures are proposed including different magnet configurations and hybrid system consisting in magnets providing high levitation pressure stabilized by superconductors. In order to investigate optimum configurations some first numerical modellings have been developed.
