β¦ Synopsis
We have studied the magnetization of single crystals of the ferromagnetic compounds HoZn and TbZn. These compounds order respectively at 75 K and 204K; the easy axis of magnetization changes from < 110> to <111 ) at 25 K in HoZn and from <110> to (100> at 65K in TbZn. Magnetic fields up to 26 koe allows one to determine the anisotropy constants of TbZn above 70K.
THE EQUIATOMIC compounds between rare earths and zinc crystallize with the cubic CsC1 type structure. Their magnetic properties have been studied on polycrystalline samples by Kanematsu et al. 1 up to 10 koe
