β¦ Synopsis
Neutron diffraction study on a Tb 2 Ni 3 Si 5 single crystal has been carried out. The observed magnetic peak positions in the reciprocal lattice space indicated that the unit of periodic array is 7/6a* Γ 8b* Γ 4c*. This result is explained by assuming that the Tb atoms shift their position and construct a unique lattice in the U 2 Co 3 Si 5 -type structure called as a composite structure. Spin configuration in this crystal is understood to be a complex antiferromagnetic structure in the a-plane.
