That's 167 pages with big pictures, so it's a very fast read.
I thought it was a good book, considering how valuable knowing every inch of Magento can be. This is a short read, it just skims over some basic elements of the themes, templates, xml, layout, and other super basic stuff.
I would say that I leaned some design basics from this book, however I found better stuff on youtube and the magentocommerce wiki and how-to pages.
