The basement membranes of the innervated surface of the electric organ of Discopyge tschudii present a high concentration of mucopolysaccharides as revealed by intense ruthenium red-positive reaction. Glycosaminoglycans (GAGs) were isolated and characterized from these pure basement membranes by usi
