✦ Synopsis

A general discussion of the kinetics of reactions at porous electrodes is given on the basis of the thermodynamics of irreversible processes. The mechanism of the action of gas-diffusion electrodes in fuel cells is then discussed in more detail as a particular case. The degree of porosity and the size of the pores is considered in relation to the electrode efficiency.

A method is described by which the ease of reduction and reoxldation of porous lead dioxide electrodes may be assessed m the short time. Fourteen alloy porous electrode supports are compared with pure lead with special reference to the charge output on reduction, ease of reoxidation, and electrode s
