As a young man, answers his countryโs call to action and becomes a fighter pilot in the Air Force. Flying a low level bombing mission over North Vietnam, his F4 fighter is shot down. He is captured by the Viet Cong and interned in a POW camp. He manages to escape and elude his captors. During his heroic 300 mile trek back to South Vietnam, he is horrified by the suffering and death of innocent non-combatants and the horrendous widespread destruction he encounters along the way.
