✦ Synopsis

Abstract

In this article, the authors have analyzed the merger‐and‐acquisition (M&A) activities in Mainland China, Hong Kong, and Taiwan from 2000 to 2010. M&A activities in Greater China expanded steadily from 2005 to 2010. However, most of the increases occurred in Mainland China and Hong Kong. Taiwan's M&A activities from 2006 to 2010 have remained sluggish. The authors do expect M&A to continue to expand in China. However, the Chinese government has issued some important new regulations that foreign investors should understand‐and the authors briefly discuss those new regulations as well.
