Kattua har overlevet Døsspillet og burde være lettet, lykkelig faktisk, nu da hun er vendt hjem til familien og barndomsvennen, Gale. Men hendes medsoner fra Distrikt 12, Peeta, har vendt hende ryggen, og intet er, som det burde være.
Rundt omkring i landet hviskes der om oprør mod Capitol, og magthaverne mener, at Kattua er skyld i uroen. Nu vil de have hævn.
Kattua og Peeta bliver sendt rundt i landet for at overbevise folket om, at de er vildt forelskede i hinanden, og at alt er godt. Men inderst inde er Kattua måske slet ikke interesseret i at dæmpe uroen.
