✦ Synopsis
The complex, bis(2,2'-bipyridine)-bis-cyanoruthenium(II), (D), forms three detectable ground-state complexes with silver(I): DAg +, D2Ag +, and DAg~ +. The first, DAg ÷, is isolable and strongly luminescent. Both DAg +* and the oxidized complex, DAg 2+, are stable during photochemical experiments. The enhanced luminescence of DAg ÷ indicates intramolecular redox reactions are not an important route for non-radiative decay.
