β¦ Synopsis
Luminescence properties of cerium in the dense tysonite-type BaThF, and PbThFs hosts have been investigated. In the barium phase the emission shows high quantum efIiciency at 300 K. In PbThFs strong thermal quenching above 20 K is ascribed to photoionization of Ce3+ ions. The high density and fast decay of BaThF6: Ce makes this material attractive for particle detection.

The luminescence of cerium-vanadate (Ce'\* -VO:-> and bismuth-vanadate (Bi3+ -VOz-> associates in caicium sulphate is reported. Evidence is presented for energy transfer from the Ce3+ ion to the vanadate group.
