✦ Synopsis

Two novel badge-sized extremely low-profile TAG antennas have been developed. They have been manufactured by means of different methods of input impedance tuning. They are aimed at the UHF radiofrequency identification of persons in case of moderate distances. The low-permittivity substrate has been used, consequently the antennas exhibits a low weight (14 g and 10 g, respectively).

In spite of their extremely low profile (as far as 0.0022 h/k 0 ), they provide the antenna efficiency better than $50%; regardless of whether the antenna is placed in free space or enclosed to a human body. Both antennas can be used as a badge for a comfortable chest fixing for the UHF RFID of people. The considerable level of miniaturization as well as the simplicity of the structure represents the main advantage of this solution.
