✦ Synopsis


Compressive andflexural strengths, dimensional changes, and freezethaw resistance of concretes made with low water to cement ratios were evaluated. In addition, exploratory studies of the rheological properties of low water content cement-aggregate-admixture systems were performed. The results indicate that, under well controlled conditions, workable concrete mixes can be obtained with w/c ratios as low as 0.28. Additionally, concretes having not only higher strength, but better freeze-thaw resistance and other engineering properties could be obtained. Unsolved problems connected with production of low water to cement ratio concretes are briefly discussed.

Druck-und Biegezugfestigkeit, Ausdehnungsverhalten und Frost-Tau-WechselbestSndigkeit von Betonen mit niedrigen Wasserzementwerten wurden ausgewertet. Vorl~ufige Untersuchungen von rheologischen Eigenschaften von Zement -Stein bzw. Sand -Zusatzmittel Systemen wurden auch ausgefUhrt. Es wurde gefunden dass, unter genau kontrollierten Bedingungen, bearbeitbare Frischbetonen mit W/Z Werten bis herunter zu 0.28 hergestellt werden k~nnen. Ferner, diese Betone haben nicht nur h~here Festigkeiten, sondern auch h~here Frostbest~ndigkeit und andere vorteilhafte Eigenschaften. Noch ungel6ste Probleme der Fertigung von Betonen mit niedrigen W/Z Werten werden kurz diskutiert.
