Finally, the shielding test was made under real conditions (with the 1 MW motor-generator). Figure shows that the shielding (integrated over all frequencies present) is quite effective up to 12 kG, where the S-N transition occurs; this is in reasonable agreement with the properties of a lead-bismut

✦ Synopsis
have reported on the high thermopower of dilute goldiron alloys as compared with gold-cobalt alloys below 15 ° K. They have found that the gold-iron thermopower at 1 ° K is ten times higher than the thermopower of gold-cobalt and that the calibration of any given gold-iron thermocouple is reproducible to better than 0.5 per cent. Their wire was prepared by Johnson Matthey and Co. Ltd, London.
We wish to report on direct measurements of the thermoelectric power of differential thermocouples formed from gold + 0-02 per cent (at.) iron vs copper.
