The specific heat Cp of base catalyzed silica aerogels of different densities has been measured at very low temperatures. The results are discussed using information on the elastic properties obtained from Brillouin light scattering experiments carried out on the same materials.

We have measured the specific heat (0.1 <T< I K) and thermal conductivity (O.O7<T<300 K) of two glassy carbons, one pyrolysed at lOOO"C, the other at 2500ยฐC.
