Samples of YBazCudOs are prepared by means of a new high oxygen pressure technique employing oxygen-HIP. Both magnetization and resistivity measurements show the superconductivity transition at 82.5 K. The lower and upper critical fields of YBa&\_t40s are obtained from the magnetization measurements

✦ Synopsis
We have carried out extensive magnetic measurements on a high purity YIBa2Cu408±S (124) sample. The large Meissner effect, comparable to that of our best YlBa2Cu307 (1237) samples confirms the bulk nature of the superconductivity. The normal-state susceptibility is clearly lower than in the case of 1237 and increases with T. The specific heat difference C(O,T)-C(H,T) has been deduced from magnetization measurements in the vicinity of T c for ~oH=8T and compared to the direct calorimetric measurement. Both methods indicate that the specific heat jump amounts to approximately 15 mJ/K 2 mole.
