✦ Synopsis

Heat capacity of rare earth cuprates R,Cu,O, (R = Y, Tb-Lu) has been measured in the temperature range from 2.0 to 30 K. Specific heat anomalies corresponding to antiferromagnetic ordering of Cu '* ions are found. The NCel temperatures vary from TN = 10 K (R = Dy) to TN = 25 K (R = Er). For Yb,Cu,O, and Dy,Cu,O, compounds, additional sharp peaks are observed at temperatures T = 9.5 K (R = Dy) and T = 6.8 K (R = Yb). These peaks may be associated with a spin-reorientation transition. Samples with Ho, Tm, Tb and Yb reveal Schottky anomalies
