✦ Synopsis
The electronic specific heat C,, was studied at T5 10 K both on La2_,SrxCu04 samples and on La,_G!ir,Cu, _,Zn,O, samples below and above yc at which the superconductivity disappears. In superconducting La,_$r,CuO, samples, the C,, contains only a T2 component at T<< T, in a x range between 0.14 and 0.22, suggesting a gapless superconductor with line nodes. A T linear component of C,, appears in superconducting I+_~r,Cu,_,Zn,O, (y<y,) samples, and its coefficient, y, increases markedly with Zn content. In samples with various Zn contents, the relation between T,/T,(y=O) and y/y(y;r y,) can be understood in terms of strong impurity scattering in a d wave superconductor.
