✦ Synopsis

We describe the observation of a pressure-induced variation in the electrical conductivity of BF 2 4doped polypyrrole at pressures below atmospheric pressure. We also show that there are anomalies in the temperature dependence of the electrical conductivity in cyclic measurements at temperatures of 240 and 310 K. The pressure effect is interpreted as a pressure-induced order-disorder conformational transition. The anomalies in the temperature dependence are attributed to the glass transition and melting of the polymer. *

A pressure dependence of the optical absorption spectra of BF À 4 -doped polypyrrole has been observed at pressures below atmospheric pressure. The two absorption bands at photon energies of 1.2 and 3.0 eV depend on the pressure: a decrease in the high-energy absorption is accompanied by an increase
