✦ Synopsis
In this paper, we presented a novel oscillator that incorporates a simple ring-type resonant structure as a resonant component and that shows high efficiency and superior harmonic characteristics. A simpler tunable resonator structure and smaller size compared to the conventional microstrip line oscillators were achieved. A VCO can be easily achieved by placing a varactor in the gap of the resonant cell. The small size and planar structure characteristic of the circuit can be easily applied to the MMIC application of the circuit, and a Ka-band MMIC oscillator application is currently under development by the authors.
