✦ Synopsis

We have studied rhe quaternary mixture. brine-roluens-SDS-butanol.

in the domam where it gives three phases. a microsmulsion in contact with an organic and an aqueous phase, and measured three low interfaclal rensions y,,,_ y,,,,. and yO,.. We find yooy stays equal to rhs largest of the tv.o orhers. and conclude that the origin of low incsrfacial tensions between the microemulsion and organic or aqueous phases are due 10 ditfercnt phenomena.

Detergency of oily soil is a complex kinetic process that includes contributions from the wash system physical properties, time and temperature of wash, and the hydrodynamic forces exerted during the wash process. Generally, surfactant mixtures that exhibit a low oil-water interfacial tension are co

In agitated liquid-liquid dispersions, catastrophic phase inversions (in which water-in-oil emulsions are. transformed into oil-in-water emulsions) have been induced by changes in the phase ratio. Drop size distribution during catastrophic phase inversion was found to depend on stirring speed and on
