✦ Synopsis

This communication will discuss Building Standard norms which exist in

Belgium, France, England, Germany and Holland. Which comfort is considered, the minimum or the maximum? Can we be sure that comfort exists, considering that numerous factors such as exterior noise (for example, the absence of noise) or reverberation time (standardized formulas) are not always taken into consideration, for example, noise from doors, kitchen noise, sanitary noise, etc. ? Thus, we suspect that the current norms are tools which measure only a narrow facet of acoustic comfort. Other types of evaluation are possible, most notably the evaluation of lower frequencies, since if we respect current Standards, we have no guarantee that the noise will actually be within the considered spectral interval.
