โœฆ Synopsis

Abstract

A lowโ€cost lowโ€sidelobe microstrip array antenna with a symmetric main beam of circular polarization (CP) is introduced. The array antenna has a coplanar feed network to excite a Chebyshev current distribution in the horizontal direction and a uniform distribution in the vertical direction of a 4 ร— 3 elements array. The CP operation is realized by using the cornerโ€fed quasiโ€square patch elements. Measured results show that the array has a sidelobe level (SLL) of โˆ’21 dB in the horizontal plane, the halfโ€power beamwidth of 27ยฐ for two main planes both and the axial ratio of below 3 dB within the main beam. Its return loss is less than โˆ’10dB for the impedance bandwidth of 40 MHz. Its measured gain reaches 13.9 dB at 2.55 GHz. It is a lowโ€cost lowโ€sidelobe design with thin profile, simple structure, CP operation, and symmetric main beam, suited for the radio frequency identification (RFID) readers and other wireless systems. ยฉ 2008 Wiley Periodicals, Inc. A new low-cost dual-polarized microstrip antenna array with a single layer is proposed. Its element is the parallel corner-fed square patch with two ports. The design, analysis, and experimental results of a 12 GHz 16-element array on a 0.8 mm thick substrate are presented. Its measured isolation is

A low-cost, low side-lobe Ku-band array of microstrip antennas, which is fed by waveguide, is presented in this article. The 72 corner-fed square patches of the array are arranged in a 6-by-12 configuration. A novel waveguide to microstrip line transition with power divider is employed as a center f

This article presents two approaches to reduce the computational cost of genetic algorithm (GA) in generating low sidelobe linear arrays by optimizing the element positions subject to the multiple design constraints of the number of elements, the array aperture dimension, and the minimum interelemen
