The plane problem of smooth contact between an elastic layer and a half-space is analyzed. The layer is pressed against the half-space by a uniform load applied over its entire surface except for one region of finite length. The solution is given as the sum of solutions to two plane problems, one of which is known a priori. The an ab sis of the other problem leads to an inhomogeneous Fredholm integral equation for an auxiliary function that is related to the contact pressure. The boundedness of the contact stress at the end of the conlact is used to determine the region of separation. The integral equation is solved numerically and the relevant physical quantities are computed and presented in the form of curves.

On analyse le probl~me du contact glissant entre une couche 61astique et un demi-espaee. La couche est press6e sur le demi-espace par une charge uniforme appliqu6e ~ sa surface enti~re, h l'exception d'une r6gion de longueur firtie. La solution est donn6e comme une somme des solutions de deux probl~mes plans, dont l'une est cormue priori. L'analyse de l'autre est amen6 fi une 6quation int6grale non-homog~ne de Frcdholm pout une fonetion auxiliaire qui d6pend de la pression de contact. Le fait que ta pression du contact ne peu pas dtre infinie aux extr6mit6s du contact est utilis6 pour d~terminer la r6gion de s6paration. L'~quation int6grale est r6solue de fagon num6rique et les quantit6s physiques importantes sont ealcul6es et pr6sent6es en forme des courbes.
