โœฆ Synopsis

*Return to a world of magic and mystery in this captivating sequel to The Forest Lord *

Inherited from an otherwordly father, enchanted blood flows through Donal Fleming's veins. Yet though his empathetic ability for all creatures gives purpose to his calling as a veterinarian, life among his mother's mortal kind has left him wary, and he secretly hungers for the freedom to live unrestrained by civilized society. Until Cordelia . . .

Cordelia Hardcastle has always played by society's rules, confined in a gilded cage of propriety and convention. Until Donal Fleming introduces her to a passion she's never dreamed of, and a world she's never imagined.

But Donal's attraction to the remarkable Cordelia has unleashed his most primal instincts. The time has come for him to challenge his destiny and face the consequences of his impossible choice -- between human love and the powers that, to him, are life itself . . .

From Booklist

In this sequel to Krinard's magical novel The Forest Lord (2002), Donal Fleming, Prince of the Fairy Folk, decided to become a veterinarian, given his strong connection to the animal world. Headstrong Cordelia Hardcastle, a member of the Zoological Society Fellows, loves animals, too. In fact, she collects exotic beasts and houses them in enclosures as similar to their natural habitats as possible. Donal and Cordelia meet as they try to calm a rampaging elephant. Donal's attraction to this brave, albeit foolhardy, woman is instant, but she represents what he hates--humans who seek to domesticate nature. And Cordelia isn't the only female in Donal's life. Once again, Krinard infuses her fiction with a strong ecological subtext. Animals lovers as well as romance readers and those who enjoy stories about mystical creatures and what happens when their world collides with ours will all find Krinard's book impossible to put down.
