✦ Synopsis
We consider groups D 2p  Z q , with p and q odd primes, q `p, and for which each prime dividing n has order p À 1 (mod p). If such a group contains a nontrivial difference set, D, our main theorem gives constraints on the parameters of D. This in turn rules out difference sets in some groups of this form. For instance, D 22  Z 3 contains no nontrivial difference set.

A two-dimensional { 31 P} spin-echo-difference constant-time [ 13 C, 1 H]-HMQC experiment (2D { 31 P}-sedct-[ 13 C, 1 H]-HMQC) is introduced for measurements of 3 J C4P and 3 J H3P scalar couplings in large 13 C-labeled nucleic acids and in DNA-protein complexes. This experiment makes use of the fac
