β¦ Synopsis
A solute dispersion model with random variuhle porosity is considered in the present study. A spectrum of' longitudinul random porosities is generated by the random number generutor to illustrnte the applications and to assess its efSect on the solute dispersion. The complicated governing dispersion model can be conaeniently tackled by an implicit $nite diflerence method. It is shown that if the rundom porosity ,function does not dell&e more than 92, 70 and 34% ,fiom its average, the dispersion model using aaeruge porosity can, respectively, predict an uvera,ye solute concentrution within 15, 10 and 5% qf that of' the random cariable porosity> model.
