Abstract
We investigate macroscopic properties of the onedimensional weakly asymmetric nearest neighbour exclusion process for long times. We show that the particle system can be approximated by the solution of a discrete version of the viscid BURGERS equation, but with random initial datum. In a larger space scale we show the convergence to a deterministic solution of the BURGERS equation without viscosity.
