## Abstract ## Background Non‐regional lymph node metastasis in intrathoracic esophageal cancer is classified as M1 lesion with poor prognosis following surgery alone. We studied the controversial question of whether chemoradiotherapy (CRT) improves survival of these patients. ## Methods A cohor
