Frigid weather on the prairies over the Christmas season and extending into January caused numerous delivery shortages. Throughputs on Pacific Gas (PGT) Transmission fell by 100 million cubic feet a day, requiring Pacific Gas and Electric to draw down underground storage, fill Line 300 with purchases of additional southwest gas, and curtail deliveries to pom.er plants with switching capabilities. Deliveries to interruptible and other purchasers with "less than firm" gas purchase contracts were discontinued. U S . purchasers were paid to purchase US. replacement supplies in order
