✦ Synopsis

An analog of the RKKY formula is derived for an anisotropic metal. Scattering of electrons by impurities is analyzed and it is proved that its only effect is the modulation of the interaction amplitude by a factor exp (-r/lr), lr being the mean free path for electrons corresponding to the "gabarite points" of the Fermi surface for a given direction oft'. One-and two -dimensional metals are also considered.
