Adsorbed NH is a stable adsorbed intemxdrate formed during hydrzine decomposition in the 285 to 365 K temperature range on the Nt(111) surface. Adsorbed NH is onented nearly perpendicular to the surface with an NH stretching vibralion a~ 3340 cm-'. NH bend at 1260 cm-'. and Ni-N strerch al 620 cm-'.

Using polarized infrared spectroscopy, stretching and bending vibration modes of H chemisorbed on 4 Β° and -9 Β° misoriented Si(111) surfaces were investigated. Both the stretching and bending modes and their polarization responses were explained by surface structures such as monohydrides on a terrace

High-resolution electron energy loss spectroscopy and thermal desorption spectroscopy have been applied to the study of the adsorbed state of benzene molecules on the Si( 1 I 1) (7 x 7) surface. Both physisorbed and chemisorbed states were found at 90 K. Physisorbed benzene is desorbed by heating to

H2 and N2 physisorbed on a Ag( 111) surface are investigated by means of high-resolution electron-energy loss spectroscopy with an energy resolution of 3 meV. The incident electron energy is tuned to negative ion resonances at 3 eV for Hz and 1.5 eV for N,, and high probability for inelastic electro
